Audio for learning
Being that podcasts have, in a way, reinvented spoken word media in our digital world, it is important that we first discuss audio.
Audio has educational advantages over printed media, as it can both enhance cognition and motivation through the improved clarity that is provided through spoken word (Durbridge, 1984).
As well, through spoken word we are better able to understand each other. Spoken words can communicate emotion (audible nuances) and can evoke a sense of intimacy (Power, 1990).
